A Moderated Panel on Solar Opportunities in Alaska
Solar power is an often overlooked option in Alaska due to the state’s long, dark winters. But a growing number of developers, electricians and engineers are expanding Alaska’s solar generation to take advantage of its sunny springs and summers. New tax credits for residential solar from the Inflation Reduction Act plus federal investments in renewable energy infrastructure nationwide promise to bring even more demand into the solar market—making the next few years a promising and pivotal time for growth.
With all the opportunities on the horizon, REAP hosted a webinar with some of the best in the Alaska solar business as part of its 2023 Fall Energy Speaker Series. ANEEE Director Chris McConnell moderated a discussion with three major players in the Alaska solar sector: Alaska Solar Owner and residential solar expert Ben May, Renewable IPP CEO and utility-scale solar expert Jenn Miller and Sunstone Electric, LLC, Owners and solar PV instructors Kolt Garvey and Amanda Setiawan.
Listen to the recorded conversation to learn about their recents projects, their perspectives on how Alaska’s solar industry will continue to evolve, and their thoughts on the solar workforce opportunities, needs and solutions in the state.
