Early on in REAP’s 20-year history, our staff learned that one of the most important determinants for whether a community’s clean energy project succeeds is whether they have an energy literate population that is prepared to take on the challenge of transitioning their legacy energy system to be more efficient and renewably powered.

This understanding informs our Energy Education work and underscores the importance of promoting the various clean energy educational opportunities available across the state.

That is why we are thrilled for the second installment in REAP’s 2024 Fall Energy Speaker Series to feature an in-depth conversation with three incredible educators who are doing the critical work of educating Alaska’s up-and-coming clean energy champions!

We hope you will join us on Wednesday, October 23, from 10:00 to 11:00am, to hear from the following panelists:

Cat Walker: Public school teacher in Anchorage, 2024 Alaska Teacher of the Year and National Teacher of the Year finalist, will discuss the high school clean energy classes she teaches and her work to help develop the new Natural Resources Career Pathway for Anchorage School District.

Chandler Kemp: Associate Professor at UAF Bristol Bay Campus will discuss the Sustainable Energy Endorsement program and the teenagers and adults he educates.

Colleen Fisk: Education Director at REAP will discuss the various clean energy education programs she oversees and delivers across the state for K-12 students and beyond.

What: An in-depth discussion with our esteemed panel of experts on the clean energy educational opportunities available to Alaskans.
