Alaska’s businesses committed to clean energy

Tour Green enables tourism-oriented businesses in Alaska to demonstrate a commitment to advancing clean energy through their support of REAP. That support comes through their clients, visitors to Alaska looking for opportunities to help protect Alaska’s striking landscape, clean air and pure water they experience in their travels. Tour Green affiliates typically charge each client a $2 fee that is embedded in the cost of their service. Collectively, this amounts to thousands of dollars every year that directly support REAP’s education and advocacy efforts.

Why Tour Green?

REAP and Tour Green affiliates agree that one of the most successful strategies to preserve Alaska’s pristine environment is through clean energy education and advocacy. Visitors and residents that use Tour Green affiliates are able to directly support climate change mitigation and contribute to more resilient communities. REAP provides all Tour Green affiliates training for their staff and marketing materials to share with visitors.

Impact of Tour Green

REAP’s advocacy has established programs and funding that save Alaskan consumers the equivalent of almost 60 million gallons of diesel and heating fuel – every year. REAP’s energy education activities reach 7,000 students every year, improving energy literacy and inspiring future energy problem solvers. Meanwhile, the state’s vast renewable energy resources remain largely untapped, and many of the state’s buildings are still inefficient. We have a lot more work to do.
