REAP is excited to be soliciting applications for its Weather Education Program.  In this initiative, we will be purchasing and disseminating 10 Davis Vantage Pro2 weather stations for loan to schools or communities in Alaska, with the goal of increasing STEM efforts and energy literacy around the state. Recipients of the weather monitoring station will conduct a placed-based, student-led, and multi-year project. The essential question that will drive the development of a project is:

How can we address an energy issue in our school and/or community using the weather station data?

Highly motivated and dedicated educators from all disciplines and K-12 grade levels are encouraged to apply. Eligible applicants also include community groups/organizations that are able to partner with a school to engage students in a project (such as museums, tribal organizations, or non-profits).

Not only do we believe that this initiative will enhance opportunities for STEM, the provided equipment facilitates student engagement in citizen science, such as by reporting data to The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program.
