Background:
Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) is searching for an Outreach Director to join its team. REAP is a statewide, non-profit clean energy education and advocacy group with a 17-year history of accomplishments. The Outreach Director reports directly to the Executive Director, and interacts on a daily basis with other staff that work on energy education, policy and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and distribute a monthly electronic newsletter and assist with the development of other public relations, fundraising and marketing materials
- Develop and expand REAP’s organizational membership and corporate support
- Develop and expand REAP’s major donor program and other individual giving
- Develop and expand other giving programs, including Pick.Click.Give., Tour Green, matching gifts, the combined federal campaign and planned giving
- Help maintain REAP website, including frequent updates with relevant news
- Maintain REAP’s social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter
- Research and develop grant proposals
- Assist in reporting on grants received
- Write and submit press releases on important clean energy news
- Administer and maintain REAP’s donor database
- Help refine and advise REAP staff on communications best practices
- Provide support to the REAP Board Development Committee
- Assist with organizational budgeting and administration of contributed income, including providing timely and accurate quarterly reports
- Recruit, utilize and manage volunteers
- Stay abreast of current news related to energy policy, renewable energy and energy efficiency
- Promote and assist with REAP events
- Assist with office management tasks as needed
Required Skills and Experience:
- Excellent in-person communication skills
- Superb writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience successfully using database management software
- Social media, marketing, and content creation experience
- Basic graphic design experience
- Experience updating websites
- Understanding of basic fundraising practices, including prospect identification, solicitation, cultivation, acknowledgment, stewardship, reporting, and ethical standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Bachelor’s degree or five years of experience in a relevant field
Additional Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Grant writing and/or other fundraising experience
- Knowledge of Alaska energy institutions and infrastructure
- Experience working with non-profits
- Proficiency in NationBuilder, QuickBooks, WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite
Compensation: This is a permanent, full time position. Annual salary of $65,000+ is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Includes paid personal leave and holidays and retirement benefits but not health care coverage.
